Huge congratulations to Mary Breen, Mary Wafer, Bernie Edgeworth and Anne Donaldson who performed so well over the weekend at the National finals in Belfast. You certainly kept us all entertained.

It is always an honour to represent your club at any level but to do so on such a large stage and reach the finals in both the Trips and the over 55’s was awesome and a wonderful personal achievement for you all.

You did yourselves, Westmanstown Club and the ILB proud. Silver medalists on your first attempt at the Nationals is a spectacular result.

Well done to all 4 of you from everyone in Westmanstown.

The finals of the 2026 Westmanstown Club Competitions were held on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th August and they were a great success. 

Congratulations to all the finalists who provided some extraordinary and exciting matches. 

Thank you to all who contributed in any way to make the day such a success -our Competition Secretary , Master of Ceremonies, Umpires, Markers, Board Turners, Photographers, Social Committee, Spectators and of course the Finalists themselves. 

There were 12 finals over the 2 days. The matches were thoroughly enjoyed by all present. Every finalist was a winner already – the matches were for positions on the podium – silver or gold, click for detail of the finalists

The weather was perfect and the refreshments and sandwiches were much appreciated by everybody.

A huge congratulations to our rinks team ( Mary Breen, Mary Wafer, Bernie Edgeworth & Anne Donaldson) and our Trips team ( Mary Breen, Bernie Edgeworth and Mary Wafer) who won their respective ILB senior Championship finals and secured gold positions on the podium.

For those interested in the history of these ladies championships – I have traced back to 1979 and while Westmanstown have regularly won the Junior championships we have never won the Senior championships.

2026 was the year Westmanstown Ladies gatecrashed the party and announced their arrival with not one but two great wins.

Well done to both teams – it was a long road to success but you did it.

A big “ thank you” to all club members who went to Blackrock to watch the matches or followed their progress on line and sent supportive messages to the teams.
Club support is vital and appreciated.
