First Trophy Of The Season

Our traditional opener to the summer season was held in brilliant sunshine in Irene on Sat Apr 20.

Having lost the match last year Westmanstown were determined to win the trophy in 2019. It was great battle and the sides were level 12 times during the match.

However Westmanstown kicked on in the last 5 ends to win 62 to 55.

Well done everyone and thanks to Ierne for a wonderful day.

Unfurling 2019

To mark the start of the new season the tradition of the unfurling of the club flag at the bowing green took place on Sunday March 31.

The Club Captains Carmel Kearns and Oliver Meyler hoisted the flag and as is the tradition, bowled the first woods of the season. The green, although a little heavy, is in very good condition and the green’s committee put in a big effort to have the green ready for the opening day. Our new benches where used for the first time since their installation in the off season and a very enjoyable time was had by all.

Many thanks to all who helped to make the day a great success.
