Long & Short Finals 2022

The finals of this our last competition of the season was played in lovely sunshine on Saturday afternoon September 24th. The green was in wonderful condition after a busy year and a credit to the greens committee and all who helped maintain it during the year.

As in previous years Robbie Breen had arranged a cup and shield competition. The cup completion was won by Michael Cowley and Fergal Moore (standing in for Peter Knight) who overcame the challenge of Pauline and John Walsh.

In the shield final Dermot Russell and Paul Ryan got the better of Ed Hickey and Sean O’Hara, Sean standing in for Marie Hickey.

Prizes were also on hand for the beaten semifinalists, Kathleen Madigan, Declan Cooke, Noel Cassidy and Paul Herarty

A special thanks to Robbie for organising the competition, Tony Ferris for presenting the prizes, all who took part in the competition and those who came along to support their fellow bowlers on the day.

Proud Marys

Mary Breen and Mary Wafer were presented with a prize by President of the LBLI, Catherine Hazlett, at Clontarf recently.

They shared the Best Junior Bowler Award for 2022. There are more photos of the closing dinner and presentations to other bowlers on the BLI Homepage.

Roll Up With Retired Players

Some of our current players had an enjoyable roll up with retired players on Thursday afternoon,  1st September.  The lady captain, Margaret Doyle,  welcomed Pam Ellis, Anne Byrne, Eileen Harris, Majorie Phelan, Toni Brennan, Breda Sheridan, Janet Holmes, Freddie Whelan, Pauline Walsh, Kate Padden and Maureen Murray.

We relaxed with tea, cakes and chat afterwards in glorious sunshine. Many thanks to those who helped to make this an enjoyable afternoon out for our retired friends.

We have already made plans for this winter with a get together on the first Wednesday of every month at 11 am in the main centre.  All lady members welcome to meet on these mornings once a month.
